There is no waiting period after enrolling; you are covered immediately upon receipt of payment.
EA+ does not have a mileage restriction for any states except Washington. Washington state residents must be traveling more than 100 miles away from home to be eligible for EA+ services. For all other state residents, you are covered from the moment you leave until the moment you return home if your trip meets the plans definition of “traveling away from home"*.
*“Traveling Away from Home” means on a vacation or business trip away from your Home (by car, plane, or other mode of travel), for a purpose other than your normal daily activities or routine.
EA+ does not limit membership or issue rate increases due to age. Our rates for the individual and family plans are the same for all ages.
The family plan includes protection for a spouse, domestic partner, and/or dependent children. For dependent children, there is an age limit. EA+ will cover dependent children through the age of 18. If they are full-time students, EA+ will cover them through the age of 22.
We do not exclude services due to pre-existing conditions. However, services will not be provided to anyone traveling against the advice of a physician, traveling with a chronic or life-threatening condition without medical clearance prior to departure, or traveling for the purpose of obtaining medical treatment.
If you are traveling to a country that is on the OFAC-sanctioned list or to a country with a U.S. Department of State Level 4 (Do Not Travel) Travel Advisory at the time of departure, you are not eligible for transportation by EA+*. There are no travel restrictions when traveling within the United States.

EA+ is worldwide coverage. Whether you are traveling in the United States or abroad, you are covered. We do not have any U.S. restrictions for the coverage area which means you are covered when traveling away from home in all U.S. states. If you are traveling abroad, we will cover you as long as the country is not on a Level 4 Do Not Travel list per the state department.

EA+ is only available to permanent U.S. residents at this time and is not available to residents of New York. Washington state residents must be traveling more than 100 miles away from home to be eligible for EA+ services. If you permanently live out of the country, have an overseas resident visa and are living there, or are on an extended stay living in another country, you are not eligible for EA+ services.
EA+ is designed for “Travel Away From Home” which means leisure or recreational travel, and will cover you while doing activities outside of your normal daily routine. EA+ will not cover you while at work because it is part of a normal daily routine. Work-related travel occupations such as truck drivers, flight attendants, etc. are not covered even though you travel at a distance away from home because it is part of a daily routine. However, the plan will cover you if you travel for the occasional business trip.
“Traveling Away from Home” means on a vacation or business trip away from your Home (by car, plane, or other mode of travel), for a purpose other than your normal daily activities or routine.
After you enroll, you will immediately receive a confirmation email with your EA+ membership ID number, and shortly after, you will be sent a welcome email with a downloadable PDF of the member guide for your purchased membership level. A welcome kit with your permanent cards for you to carry while traveling and a printed member guide will follow by mail and be delivered within 7-10 business days.
Your welcome email will also provide instructions on how to download the EA+ mobile app so you will have one-touch access to the EA+ Global Response Center if you have a travel or medical emergency.
We’re proud to say that EA+ has continued to provide assistance to members who are traveling away from home either domestically or abroad, before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Should any of our members find themselves hospitalized with COVID-19 while traveling away from home, we will continue to assist in getting them home as quickly and safely as possible, within the following guidelines:
If at the time of your departure your destination has a U.S. Department of State Level 4 Travel Advisory due to COVID, any request for transportation caused by or resulting from COVID will not be provided.
If your destination has a level 1, 2 or 3 Travel Advisory due to COVID at the time of your departure, transportation requests will be considered in accordance with the rules and regulations of your membership.

One low fee protects your travels all year long.
Yes, this plan is an annual membership, and the cost you see is the full annual cost of membership. Your annual payment will cover you for 12 months from the date of enrollment, and it will cover all the trips you take in that year’s period.
The annual cost of the plan depends on which plan you purchase. We have many options available to meet your needs. We also have some add-ons available that will allow you to customize your plan and tailor the services to your travel and protection needs. The rates you see quoted throughout the website are the annual costs of membership.
EA+ is an annual membership; we currently only offer the payment option of paying once a year.
While there are no specific limitations on the length of a trip, the intent of EA+ is to cover vacations, getaways or the occasional business trip away from home. If your trip is over a years’ time, it will fall under normal daily activities and not be eligible for EA+ services.
Your plan will go into effect immediately upon receipt of payment, without any waiting period.
Once you enroll in the plan, you are covered for 12 months from your effective date. Your renewal payment will be due every year on the same date you enrolled.
EA+ pays for all the transportation services listed under your membership, and arranges and provides them during your emergency, so there are no out of pocket expenses or claims to submit for reimbursement.
All services listed under “Emergency Transportation Services” in the Member Guide are arranged and provided by EA+ with no out-of-pocket expense to the member.
There are some assistance-only services, which may require credit card or payment at the time these arrangements are provided for you (these may include: lost luggage, medication or medical device replacement, or advance medical payments). EA+ does not require you to pay upfront and get reimbursed later. Since this is a service that assists in real-time, all the paid services under your membership will be arranged and paid in full upfront by EA+ as necessary at the time of need.
As an EA+ member, the transportation services under your membership are covered in full and do not require any extra fees such as co-pays or deductibles.
Some of the medical and travel assistance services, such as Replacement of Corrective Lenses and Medical Devices or Lost Luggage Assistance, may include a cost component for the member. The services listed under “Emergency Transportation Services” in the Member Guide are paid at full cost by EA+ and do not have a dollar cap. The Member Guide can be located on the Plan Information page.
EA+ is designed to protect the things most important to you – especially your family. With an EA+ family membership, your spouse has access to all EA+ services when traveling together or apart.
When you sign up for the family plan, you and your spouse (including domestic partner) and dependents (your unmarried children from birth and through age 18; or through age 22 if enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited college, university, vocational, or technical school; and children whose support is required by a court decree; or adult child(ren) or grandchild(ren) with mental or physical disabilities who are solely dependent for maintenance and support. Children include biological children, stepchildren, and legally adopted children. They must be primarily dependent on you for support and maintenance and must live in a parent-child relationship with you. If traveling on a trip without you, they are covered provided the trip does not exceed 90 days).

Yes! If you are enrolled in the family membership, your spouse/domestic partner is protected by EA+ whether or not he or she is traveling with you. The family membership gives them access to all of the same services as the primary member.
If you enroll in the family plan, your spouse is equally covered whether you travel together or separately, including access to medical evacuation services.
Domestic partners can be covered under a family plan if in a committed relationship and can provide the required proof of cohabitation. Proof of domestic partnership is not required during enrollment in the EA+ plan. However, if services are needed, proof of cohabitation is required to gain access to services. Because a family plan automatically covers any family member that meets the definition of dependents, domestic partner or spouse, there is no need to add them individually to the plan. They will be covered as long as you sign up for the family plan and they meet the definition outlined in the member guide, which can be viewed here.
The family plan will cover your dependent children through the age of 18. If they are full-time students, EA+ will cover your children through age 22.
Adult children are not covered under the standard family plan. However, if your adult children or grandchildren with mental or physical disabilities are solely dependent on you for maintenance and support, they will be covered as a "Dependent" under the family plan. Yes, you can purchase an EA+ membership as a gift for anyone you choose.

If your travel companion does not meet the criteria of a spouse, domestic partner, or dependent (under the family plan), EA+ does not provide services for that travel companion if they experience a medical emergency. A companion is anyone traveling with you 50% or more of the time on any one trip.
Ensuring that you get the care you need in a medical emergency is at the center of what EA+ does.
EA+ is here to assist no matter what type of vacation or adventure you are on. Generally, cruises will transport an onboard member to the closest port, where they can be immediately transferred to a local hospital or facility and properly evaluated. EA+ will need to be notified of your medical emergency and will be standing by ready to assist and evacuate the patient from there, should it be medically necessary, or, if it has been predetermined by the onboard medical staff and EA+ medical team that there is no appropriate care at the port, and it is imminent that the patient will need to be admitted to a hospital, EA+ will coordinate with the cruise ship to provide emergency transportation when it arrives at port to take the patient to the closest appropriate facility.
It is incredibly rare for a traveler to be directly airlifted off a cruise ship for safety reasons, and in those extreme circumstances, it would likely be the Coast Guard performing this specific type of transfer. This is not a service provided by EA+. Cruise ship evacuations directly from the boat are very dangerous for several different reasons (the small window of opportunity to grab the patient, weather-related concerns, boat rocking, and no specific landing pad on most occasions). The best, and safest option in almost all cases, is for the ship to port at the next closest location and disembark the member at that time.
Evacuation would take place after you are already at a medical facility and if that medical facility does not have adequate medical care. In this case, we will evacuate you to the nearest facility that can treat and stabilize you.
It is important to note that EA+ does not provide ambulance services to the hospital.
Every situation is different depending on specific medical conditions, patient needs, and even location. The EA+ Emergency Response Team will make the determination if you need to be moved after reviewing your medical records and consulting with the treating physician, if necessary. Our medical team is equipped with a vast knowledge of medical facilities around the world and are trained to determine if your current medical facility is appropriate to handle your treatment or if it is medically necessary for you to be moved to a more appropriate facility due to your specific medical needs at that time.
Note: Hospitalization is a requirement to be eligible for emergency medical evacuation services under your EA+ membership.
This is determined on a case-by-case basis, depending on the location and the patient's specific condition. EA+ will transport the member to another hospital when the first hospital is not medically appropriate for the patient’s condition. The EA+ team works as quickly as possible to secure the proper Air Ambulance for transport and gain approval at the receiving hospital.
If a family membership was purchased and if the whole family medically requires transportation from a medically inappropriate to an appropriate facility, this service will be arranged and provided by EA+. Each family member must meet the definition of spouse, domestic partner, or dependent.
EA+ is not an insurance policy, but fills the gaps where your health or travel insurance may leave you with unplanned transportation expenses.
Emergency Assistance Plus is not a health insurance policy and does not cover hospital or medical bills if you are hospitalized while traveling. EA+ provides medical assistance and transportation services if you are hospitalized while traveling domestically or abroad. EA+ is an important stop-gap between what your medical plan covers and emergency medical transportation services most health insurance plans never cover. No, you do not need to notify EA+ every time you travel. The only time you need to notify EA+ is if you experience a medical emergency while on your trip. You must call EA+ while at the first medical facility in order to access your services.
EA+ doesn’t cover you if an illness prevents you from going on your trip, but rather EA+ will cover you if you have a medical emergency and that illness causes you to become hospitalized and prevents you from continuing on your trip.

Once you are on your group’s My Account portal page, you will first need to register before you can log in. Click on “Register for your online account”.
You will need your 10-digit EA+ membership number – this can be located on all of the items listed above, as well as on your Member Guide and EA+ Identification Card.
